Description
Beading is great for building:
Pincer grasp
In-hand manipulation skills
Fine motor control
Creativity
Emotional expression
Mathematical skills: colours, patterns, shapes and counting
Language skills (naming colours and shapes and conversation while beading)
Planning
Focus and concentration
I use beading a lot in therapy and with my child as bracelets or necklaces or key chains can be very symbolic, grounding and an expression of feelings or friendships. This is also a great activity to do with children that are shy or withdrawn as it distracts them while being able to talk more easily.
