Description
‘Sand in My Pockets’ is a story about soiling, holding on and letting go. This is not an uncommon problem and although it may be part of a developmental stage, it can also develop into a more complicated issue. This may be the result of a medical, emotional or psychological problem. This therapeutic story explores this very sensitive issue through the use of ‘sand’ as a metaphor. John struggles to let go, which results in him feeling unwell, unable to play and helpless. Through John’s story, children are given the opportunity to identify with his feelings of embarrassment, shame and need for control and then witness him finding a healthy way to let go.
