Description
A Story about Broken Boundaries and how to rebuild them
The Invisible Hula Hoop is a story to help children understand boundaries and personal safety. Boundaries can be damaged or broken through bullying, abuse or even intrusion. Visualising
having a hula hoop around you gives children an idea of what is appropriate space, and when someones closeness is not ok. Sarah had experienced situations that left her feeling defeated and unable to stand up for herself but through observing another child assert herself she realised that this was possible.
With the help of this little girl, Sarah learnt what a hula hoop can do, who is allowed inside it and what to do if it is ever pushed, damaged or broken. She deserved to feel safe and was worth
protecting.
